Serenity runs 3rd in the Open at Kyogle

Serenity and Kimberley continue their hot streak and run 3rd in the Open at Kyogle on the 7/7/15

Serenity Wins the Novice Draft

Serenity had a great weekend at Mallanganee draft on the 14/6/15 winning the Novice. Great job for the duo.

Serenity Wins Ladies Cut Out

Serenity and Kimberley Sammon had their first draft together at Kyogle on the 8/6/15 with pleaseing results. He won the ladies cut out and had to run off for the maiden and novice cut outs. Not a bad start for the combination.

Serenity Places in ASH National Open Challenge

Serenity had a great week at the ASH National Championships coming 4th Overall in the Open Challenge against some of the best horses in the country. He was 3rd in the campdraft section after running an 88.

Sydney Royal Show 2015

We took Serenity down to Sydney show this year to compete in the ASH events. He worked like a champion coming home with a 2nd in his working and a 5th in his hack. For a full blood quater horse (but dual registered) he did exceptionally well as he is behind before he starts due to him not being the 'type' that is generally excepted in the show ring We wanted to show people that he is more than just a very talented campdraft horse, that he can also show to the highest level and crossed over ASH mares you should end up with something that is of more tradional type but with his temperment and athlectic ability and of course maybe some bling! Anyone that saw him work was impressed which is all we can ask of him. We just love that we can take this horse anywhere and he performs at whatever we ask of him.

ASH National Championships 2015

Serenity had a great week at the National Championships. He ran an 88 in the draft section of the Abbey Open Challenge coming 3rd and had a great working, Hack and Timetrial earning him and Maryanne Gough 4th overall out of 104 of some of the best open working horses in the country. Jock rode him in the drafing events and made the final of Maiden Series and the Stallion draft, ending up with a 6th in the Stallion draft. He worked so well all week and did us proud. A little horse with such a big heart. When asked for more he dug a little deeper everytime and found it.

ASH National Championships

Last week was the ASH National Championships. We had a great week, We sold 2 lovely yearling fillies at the
FOY sale, one being the 2nd highest priced horse and the other the 4th highest. Derowie Enchanted Acres sold for $14,300 and was by Acres Destiny and out of our lovely Omega mare Kirkbys Stud Ella. Derowie Cinders and Ashes who is by Serenity and out of our Tassa Lena x Bobbie Bruce mare Montcalm Cinderlena sold for $11,000.
This was the first horse by Serenity to be offered for sale so we were very pleased that there was so much interest in his progeny. It was nice to be able to showcase what he is breeding. Serenity had a great week in the experenced hands of Maryanne Gough, they got 4th in the working section of the Open Challenge out of 104 entries and were only 2pts off the leader, in the hack section he came 17th and had a good time trail score but unfortunately he only got a 22 yard for the draft, if he had a good campdraft run he would have placed overall, but thats drafting for you! In the show events he got a 3rd in his working class and and 5th in his hack class. He had an 86 in the first round of the maiden series and had to run off for the cut out in the novice off a 23 camp. So as always he proved to be Mr Versatile.

Serenity gets 5th in the Novice at Molong Draft

We had a good weekend at Molong with Jock and Serenity getting 5th in the novice and Moore of Acres making the open final. We have been really busy on the farm with hay work and breeding so the horses hadnt been worked since our last draft 2 wks ago. Thats one thing we love about Serenity is that if you dont have time to ride him you can just pull him out of the paddock on Friday and he just turns up and does his job, if we can breed them like him we will be right. With our busy lifestyle with the farm and kids we need all our horses to be like this as we sometimes just dont get time to ride at home. He is just so consistent, nevers seems to change. He just has a very laid back attitude.

Serenity 8th in the Paradise Lagoons Stockmans Challenge

Maryanne Gough and Serenity did a great job up at Paradise Lagoons coming 8th overall in the Stockmans Challenge. They had some very tough competition, against horses who have been born and raised for this event. The horse that won overall, Double Your Money, has been with some of the best trainers in the country all his life. Serenity was 3rd place in the final of the dry work, only 1pt off Double Your Money. He drew some pretty tough cattle in the cutting and draft but did a great job with what he had. Maryanne did a marvellous job with him, with only 8wks together it was a fantastic effort for them to go up there and match it (and beat) some of the best horses in the country. Check back soon to see photos and video footage of the challenge.

Serenity off to Paradise Lagoons Challenge

After the ASH Nationals we sent Serenity home with Maryanne Gough to train for the 5 & Under challenge at Paradise Lagoons. We feel that Maryanne is the perfect Jockey with her many years of experience with campdrafting and then recently her time spent in Canada working on the reining side of things which is so important in this challenge. Challenge aside it will be a great opportunity to give Serenity some exposure in QLD. We are very confident that Maryanne will do a great job showing off our little man and we cant wait to see what he can do at Paradise.

Derowie Mega Acres Supreme ASH at first show

Terry Snow purchased Derowie Mega Acres from us and recently took her to her first show where she won supreme ASH. She is by Acres Destiny and out of our beauitful Omega mare Kirkbys Stud Ella. We have a full sister to this mare on the ground and Ella has been joined back to Acres. Terry also bought a colt from us Derowie Common acres who is by Conman and out of one of our best young mares Moore of Acres. He is only a yearling and managed to win his colt class and was Reserve Champion led stallion only just being beaten by a much older stallion. Well done to Terry and his team.

New Broodmare

We are very pleased to announce the arrival of another broodmare to our team. Hazelwood Comma - she was bred by the Halls and has some of their best ASH genetics being by Dogwood Commet and out of a Seventy Seven Revenge mare. She has been drafted by her pervious owners with scores up to 91 and many places in Maiden, Novice & Open drafts. She comes empty and will be joined to Serenity in the spring. One of the best mares we have seen was Michael Wilsons Ignite, the foals from this mare by Serenity will be very closey related hopefully producing something similar.
